Tagore Institute of Peace Studies organised an international seminar on ‘The Evolving Geo-political Balance in the Indo-Pacific‘, To highlight Indo‑Pacific as one of the world’s most strategically contested regions Tips collaborated jointly with the Policy Planning and Research Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. on January 13, 2026. Key actors in the Indo-Pacific including Japan, Australia, ASEAN and middle powers like South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and Taiwan, are seeking to strike a delicate balance between economic interdependence and security imperatives. Minilateral platforms such as the Quad and AUKUS are reshaping cooperation, while flashpoints emerge over the control of sea lanes and exclusive economic zones, among others. The USA seeks to establish a rule-based order, and counter China’s rise and strengthen alliances with Japan, Australia, South Korea and the Phillipines. Deep insights were shared on the complex dynamics of the region by the inaugural address of Ambassador Mr Anil Wadhwah, IFS (retired); special address by Mr Sunanda K. Datta-Ray, Editor & Commentator; and Plenary address by Prof. Saugata Roy, MP and President, Webfuna; and Mr Sitaram Sharma, Founder President, the Tagore Institute of Peace Studies in the inaugural session.
